The origins of Ortelle are related to the Saracen destruction in Vaste and Castro; human presence dates back to a more distant past, however, given the evidence provided by some menhirs, unfortunately disappeared in the last century.
For Ortelle you can visit:
The ancient parish church, built in Baroque style in 1653, which counts among her precious altars and paintings here;
The ancient crypt "Madonna of the Cave", an extensive process of bizantinizzazione testimony that affected southern Italy between the seventh and eleventh centuries;
The Chapel of Saints Vito and Marina erected in 1776 on an ancient cave church.
