One hundred and fifty Turkish ships, with eighteen thousand men, violated the white beach Laghi Alimini and from that moment on, for twelve terrible days, the city was under siege, suffering atrocious massacres. The women were enslaved, some even raped, while about eight hundred men survivors were imprisoned and taken to the Hill of Minerva, where he was asked to abjure the Christian faith to save his life.
