The Magna Grecia Mare is committed to the ridiscovery and promotion of an ancient seafaring culture, of a huge heritage traditions and of an untouched nature. Tricase Porto, the ancient Portus Veneris is the headquarters of the "School of Vela Latina" and of the Museum of Traditional Boats and of Labour.
It is necessary saving and transmitting the knowledge that our ancestors sailors, fishermen, carpenters and artisans have given us with pride and tenacity.
The School of "Vela Latina" is aimed at young people and adults as well who wish to share with us a sea culture and a philosophy of life, characterized by initiative, adventure, sense of responsibility and passion. It 'a school for training, of sea practicing and ancient techniques of navigation, seamanship and boat care.
In Portus Veneris people were used to "load and unload all and any merchandise they brought". Once, Port Veneris used to be populated by different types of boats including: trabaccoli, leudi, bragozzi, bovi, caicchi (caiques), gozzi, brigantini (Brigs), pinchi, paranze, feluche
Today the ancient fishing boats of the Magna Grecia Mare have given life to the Active Museum of Portus Veneris.
