Mercatino del Gusto - fourteenth edition of the event will be held in Maglie Salento organized by the "Mercatino del Gusto", in collaboration with the Slow Food Puglia and the support of the institutions, local and regional authorities and private companies.
The "Mercatino del Gusto", now in its fourteenth edition in 2013, offers visitors a glimpse of the significant culinary excellence Puglia, allowing the public to discover the products of Salento and regional food traditions, liaising directly with artisans, cheese makers, pasta makers, winemakers and millers.
The event takes its name from over ninety stalls regional exhibitors - broken down by types of food - located along the streets of the historic center of Maglie, who animate the squares with extra virgin olive oil, wine, craft beer and the ways of food, and vegetables, sweets, and the garrisons of the food Slow Food community. Frequented by visitors attentive, curious, receptive and available to the comparison that appreciate and recognize the specificity. The market in fact, it is not only the shopping place, but it is the interaction and dialogue, and the purchase is only the final moment of a meeting between the producer, who recounts his specialty, and the public. Even the dinners are not limited to being a convivial moment, but allow guests to discover the extraordinary richness and variety cuisine of the region, without having to move from Maglie.
If you want to dine under the summer sky, but comfortably seated, you just have to choose between the elegant "Dinners in Villa" and informal "Squares", where leading chefs of Puglia know how to conquer the palates of diners. For those who prefer to walk the streets of the city tasting the typical food of Puglia is the "Street food", which in recent years has gained increasing success: they can be appreciated bombette, the focaccia of Bari, the "pucce" and "pizzi", the "scapece" of Gallipoli, the fried fish and all products of the territory that many tourists do not know.
The evening continues with good music and after-dinner cocktails at the "gustosofo" Michele di Carlo, who will lead the visitors in the world of spirits and liqueurs.
