Sagra della Ficandò agust 04 2014

On August 4, Alessano, municipality of Salento, is the festival of peppers "Ficandò."
The event is organized by the Pro Loco of the place and was born from the desire to involve tourists, but not only, in the tasting of those simple flavors, typical of the peasant cuisine, which are a bit 'lost.
Protagonists of the festival are, therefore, peppers, inexpensive and easy to prepare food that give the name to the party that is called in this way only in the small town of Alessano.
The first edition was held on 4 August 2009 in Piazza Castello and since then, every year, are involved in a greater number of participants among tourists and locals alike.
The festival takes place in the narrow streets of the historic center, between the typical houses to "COURT" Alessano.
The ingredients are the main dish, as we have already said, the fried green peppers, preferably spicy (or "bitter" for the true wine tasters), tomatoes, onion, salt, a little 'fresh basil in extra virgin olive oil for the seasoning (strictly ours).
  All accompanied by the home-made bread.
Many are the stands that offer this dish, but many others will be found in meat, fish, fresh pasta, "pittule", fruit and pastries.
  Not to forget the good wine of Salento, which accompanies and enhances the flavors.
Other big stars of the evening are the music, the various pizziche and folk songs, which make the atmosphere even more participatory and engaging.
Like others, also the Feast of the "Ficandò" adheres to the circuit "Esco-Puglia Festa" with the project "Tradition is Eco - sustainability model to innovate and revolutionize the traditional events in Puglia"

The commitment is to use biodegradable tableware, damp conferred through the use of "Ecological Islands".
